IMPORT/EXPORT
LICENSES
A U.S. Fish and Wildlife License is required for all persons engaged
in the commercial business of importing or exporting wildlife.
This license is only permission to engage in import/export of wildlife
and does not supersede any other lawfully established requirements.
EXCEPTION TO DESIGNATED PORT
A permit is required to import or export wildlife at non-designated
ports for: (1) scientific purposes; (2) to minimize deterioration
or loss; or (3) to alleviate undue economic hardship.

CITES
A CITES export permit is required for exports of wildlife listed under
CITES that originate in the United States or other country of origin.
A CITES Re-Export certificate is required for exports of wildlife
included under CITES that have been previously imported into the United
States or another country of origin. The purpose of a CITES
Re-export certificate is to document that the wildlife was legally
imported into the United States or other country.
The Office of International Affairs, Division of Management Authority
(DMA) is responsible for all CITES documentation issued in the United
States.
*Please note that export of live CITES wildlife requires documents
issued by DMA. For CITES Export/Re-Export permits contact DMA at (1,800-358-2104).
*Under the following circumstances, CITES permits may be issued at
designated ports (Atlanta, Miami, and New Orleans):
A. For CITES application form 3-200-26, CITES export permits may be
issued for the export of skins/products of the following species ONLY:
American alligator (Alligator mississipiensis)
Bobcat (Lynx rufus)
River otter (Lutra canadensis)
Lynx (Lynx canadensis)
Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) (taken in Alaska only)
Gray wolf (Canis lupus) (taken in Alaska only)
American black bear (Ursus americanus) (taken in Alaska only)
(species taken in Alaska only and permit can be issued only by Region
7)
The CITES tag list for the species is required at the time of application.
B. For CITES application form 3-200-73, CITES Re-export permits my
be issued for CITES Appendix II and III species that are NOT listed
in 50 CFR 17 as endangered or threatened, MBTA, Marine Mammal and
few other exceptions. Please call port office for further information.
