The total mtmber of boxes completed through October 2007 is approximately 163,685. Movement of Records The Bureau of Indian Affairs (B!A) and Office of the Special Trustee (OST) moved 3,588 boxes of inactive records from various field locations to Lenexa, Kansas, for indexing and subsequent storage at the American ~dian Records Repository (AIRR) during this reporting period. Site Assessments Statement During the month of October, OTRA performed 5 records assessments, one at each of the following locations: Standing Rock Agency B!A office, Standing Rock IIM Office, Great Plains Region BIA office, Great Plains Region OST IIM office, and Rapid City OST IIM Field Office. OTRA issued 3 records assessment reports, one for each of the following locations: Western Navajo Agency B!A office, Cherokee Agency B!A office, and Standing Rock OST IIM office. Records Training In October 2007, OTR provided records management training for 72 BIAJOST records contacts and Tribal employees. OTR provided training on vital records for 32 BIA, OST and Tribal employees. Equipmem 55 pieces of fireproof filing equipment were delivered to BIAJOST and Tribal offices in October 2007. Litigation Support and Research Requests OTR continued to provide significant support to the Office of the Solicitor, Office of Historical Trust Accounting and its contractors, the Deparement of Justice and its contractors and tribal attorneys on behalf of various Tribes. AIRR staff provided responses to 234 research requests from BIA, OST and other requesters.
