Kingston 2 ACTIVITY REPORT OFFICE OF TRUST RECORDS Jtme I - 30, 2007 PROGRAMMATIC: Labat-Anderson (Labat Indexing Project) Labat reported that indexing of 1,220 boxes of inactive Indian records was completed in June 2007. The total number of boxes completed through June 2007 is approximately 157,880. Movement of Records The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Office of the Special Trustee (OST) moved 2,108 boxes of inactive records from various field locations to Lenexa, Kansas, for indexing and subsequent storage at the American Indian Records Repository (AIR_R) during this reporting period. Site Assessments Statement During the month of June, OTRA performed 4 records assessments at the following locations: Eastern Region (BIA); Eastern Region (IIM Field Office); and NBC, OST/Office of Appraisal Services for two regions (Eastern Region and Western Region). OTRA issued 5 records assessments reports for Uintah and Ouray Agency (BIA); Uintah and Ouray (IIM Field Office), and NBC, OST/Office of Appraisal Services for threeregions (Rocky Mountain Region, Western Region, and Southwest Region). Records Training OTR provided records management training for 43 BIA/OST records contacts and 41 Tribal employees. OTR provided training on vital records for 201 BIA, OST and Tribal employees. Equipment 126 pieces of fireproof filing equipment were delivered to BIA, OST and Tribal offices in June 2007. Litigation Support and Research Requests OTR continued to provide significant support to the Office of the Solicitor, Office of Historical Trust Accounting and its contractors, and the Department of Justice and its contractors. AIRR staffprovided responses to 204 research requests from BIA, OST and other requesters. Additionally with the recent filing of numerous tribal trust litigation cases, litigation-related information and document requests pertaining to records at the AIRR continue to increase. Manyofthese requests have very short deadlines. ADMINISTRATIVE: General administrative activities continued. GENERAL OBSERVATIONS: None.
