OKALOOSA, FL -The U.S. Marshals North
Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested four fugitives while
conducting a mini round-up last night and seized narcotics
consisting of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana; as well as
over thousand dollars in cash.
While in Ft. Walton Beach, the Task
Force was in search of 31 year old Joseph Petitt wanted on a
Violation of Probation warrant for Distribution/Delivery of Cocaine
Within 1000 Feet of a School and Failure to Appear on Possession of
Narcotics Equipment. The Task Force found Pettit and arrested him at
an apartment complex located at 615 Colonial Drive.
Inside the apartment there were
numerous people and while attempting to secure the residence; the
Task Force came across drugs scattered around the three-room
apartment. The drugs were seized and brought back to the Okaloosa
County Sheriff’s Office were they were tested and weighed. According
to an initial evaluation, there was approximately 26 grams of crack
cocaine and 7 grams of powder cocaine with a combined estimated
street value of $3,400.00. The marijuana was estimated to be worth
less than one hundred dollars.
Also arrested inside the apartment
was 18 year old Ernest Lee Powell Jr., a fugitive the Task Force had
been trying to pin down for several weeks. Powell is wanted on
charges of Child Abuse, Battery in conjunction with Domestic
Violence, Burglary and Criminal Mischief. No one was charged for the
drugs at the time of arrest however.
The Task Force, which consists of officers and deputies from
Okaloosa and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Ft Walton Beach
Police Department and the Marshals in Pensacola, later arrested
Timothy Alan McKuhen; who forced the officers to subdue him with
tasers after he continuously fought Task Force Officers while they
attempted to handcuff him. McKuhen who was being sought on charges
of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault with
Intent to Commit a Felony and Violation of Probation for
Solicitation of Prostitution was arrested at a home on the 700 Block
of Tyner Street in Ft. Walton Beach. After he was arrested, he was
charged additionally with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and
Resisting Arrest With Violence. The Task Force wrapped up the
evening after midnight when they arrested Melissa Dawn Jackson a
fugitive wanted out of Bay County on charges Grand Theft, Burglary
and Dealing in Property. The 27 Jackson was arrested at a home on
the 100 Block of Kelly Road in Niceville without incident. All four
were booked into the Okaloosa County Jail.
