Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Effective

This is the highest rating a program can achieve. Programs rated Effective set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency.
  • A 2004 Tennessee Valley Authority study changed how TVA operates its dams and reservoirs. This resulted in a TVA water resources policy designed to allow TVA to meet fundamental responsibilities for flood control, commercial navigation, and power production, while protecting water quality and accommodating increased demands created by recreational and residential growth.
  • In May 2007, TVA released a new strategic plan to address its goals for the next 10-15 years. Responsible envionrmental management was mentioned as a strategic aim for TVA going forward into the future.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Assessing the continued use of current program efficiency ratios as well as developing new program efficiency standards where appropriate.
  • TVA will develop a detailed business plan that provides specific information on how it intends to achieve the goals espoused in TVA's new strategic plan, which was released in May 2007.
