Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Adequate

This rating describes a program that needs to set more ambitious goals, achieve better results, improve accountability or strengthen its management practices.
  • The program areas do not duplicate other federal, state or local efforts. Although there are other programs that provide similar benefits, their eligibility requirements cannot be met by this service population. In addition to the IIM accounts, child services are uniquely legislated for only the Bureau of Iindian Affairs to administer.
  • The program has a limited number of long-term and short-term performance measures, developed in 2005, that can adequately demonstrate the performance of the program with the resources provided.
  • Outside interests and Tribes conducted reviews on specific aspects of the program. However, there has not been an independent review of the program's management on a regular basis.
