Delta Regional Authority

The Delta Regional Authority's purpose is to address severe and chronic economic distress in the Mississippi Delta region by stimulating economic development and fostering public and private partnerships. This effort includes small targeted grants to distressed communities and coordination with other Federal agencies.

Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Adequate

This rating describes a program that needs to set more ambitious goals, achieve better results, improve accountability or strengthen its management practices.
  • The program has created two solid long term/annual performance measures to assess its progress toward its long-term goals of job creation and retention in the Delta region.
  • The program has strengthened grants oversight and accountability and remains a strong regional coordinator and planner of Federal investment in the region.
  • While the program does have a clear purpose in alleviating extreme poverty in the Delta region, its efforts are duplicative of the many other Federal programs that address the same needs and provide the same types of assistance.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

  • Work with independent evaluator to create and implement an appropriate high quality evaluation of program effectiveness.
