Seattle Post-Intelligencer: No Child Left Behind "Demands The Doable"
Following is an excerpt from an editorial in today's Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

"The [No Child Left Behind] law's big benefit, though, is that it demands the doable: bringing minority and poor kids up to the levels expected of their schoolmates. Even this state needed a federal shove there.

"A decade after passing school reform legislation, Washington knows teachers and students can excel in tough circumstances.

"When we listen to predictable griping about schools and the new federal law, that experience ought to keep us in the right frame of mind. It's time to get back to the exciting work of improving schools for all kids."
