The U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative offers free online professional development opportunities for teachers in areas such as reading, math, and science. And now thirty-two states and the District of Columbia give or allow local districts to give teachers credit for participating in the Teacher-to-Teacher e-Learning digital workshops. These states are:

In order to assist teachers in finding out how they can receive credit from their state, the Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative has added an interactive United States map to its professional development Web site. Teachers can click on their states to find out more.

There are currently 23 free e-Learning sessions available for teachers. Examples of some of the courses offered are:

The e-Learning professional development website is part of the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, which also supports teachers through workshops, email updates, and the American Stars in Teaching recognition project.
