Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC May 9, 2008 Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Democracy PromotionThe Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Democracy Promotion (ACDP) will meet on Monday, May 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C. to discuss strategies to promote democratic governance.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice established the Advisory Committee on Democracy Promotion to convene external experts to provide her with advice on issues related to democracy promotion in the formulation and implementation of U.S. foreign policy and foreign assistance. Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky serves as the Executive Director. Lorne Craner of the International Republican Institute is the Committee’s acting chairperson. The meeting, which will be held at the U.S. Department of State in Room 1105, will be open to the public. Secretary Rice will participate in the discussion from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. The meeting will have pool press coverage for cameras and be open for writers and still photographers. Final access for writers and still photographers: 9:45 a.m. from the 23rd street entrance.
