QUESTION TAKEN AT OCTOBER 31,2001 PRESS BRIEFING

Nationalities of Hijackers

QUESTION: What were the nationalities of the fifteen hijackers issued visas in Saudi Arabia?

ANSWER: The Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation requested our assistance in determining the visa histories of a number of individuals. As we have previously said, we found records of visa issuance for the nineteen named hijackers. We are not going to comment any further on specifics of individuals as this is an on-going investigation. Further questions should be directed to the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
