Labor Department Hosts Town Hall Meetings in Simi Valley to Explain New Energy Workers Compensation Program

SAN FRANCISCO — Labor officials will host two town hall meetings to provide important information about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). This new program provides compensation to certain Department of Energy contractor or subcontractor employees who became ill as a result of exposure to toxic substances while working at certain Department of Energy facilities.

During the town hall meetings, labor officials will explain the recent EEOICPA amendments that created a new program called Part E. Under Part E, additional compensation is provided to uranium workers, and certain survivors of those workers, covered by the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).

Workers or survivors of workers who worked at the Energy Technology Engineering Center, Atomics International, Rocketdyne, Canoga Park, DeSoto or Downey, and need assistance filling out claim forms, may schedule appointments following the town hall meeting or may call the California Energy Compensation Resource Center at (866) 606-6302, toll-free.
