Initial Claims Paid Under New Part E of the Energy Workers Compensation Program
U.S. Labor Department Official Travels to Knoxville to Present Payment
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment Standards Victoria A. Lipnic will join Senator Lamar Alexander to present one of the initial payments the department is able to make under the new Part E portion of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act. The recipient of the payment is Christine Case, surviving widow of Wayne Wallace, Jr. who worked at the Y-12 facility from 1953 to 1971 as an electrician. Case will receive $125,000 in compensation under the new program. The presentation will be made at the Howard H. Baker, Jr. Federal Courthouse Jan. 10 at 11:00 a.m. E.D.T.
