Drs. Edward Masler, Inga Zasada and Susan Meyer of the NL visited Drs. Olga Shemshura and Nadiya Bekmakhanova at the Institute of Microbiology and Virology in Almaty, Kazakhstan.  The September 2007 visit was part of an ongoing collaboration on an International Science and Technology research project. 

 

Dr. Edward Masler met with colleagues at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology, Golitsino, August 7-11, 2007. This was in support of an International Science and Technology Center project between the Nematology Laboratory and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology.

 

On July 31, 2007, Dr. Inga Zasada presented the invitational talk “Research collaborations can improve the use of organic amendments for plant-parasitic nematode management” at the special “Faces of the Future” Symposium at the American Phytopathological Society Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.

 

From May 21 through June 1, 2007, Mr. Ángel Ramírez Suárez and Mr. Domingo Colmenares- Aragón of the Laboratorio de Nematodos Fitopatógenos, Centro Nacional de Referencia Fitosanitaria, Dirección General de Sanidad Vegetal, Coyoacán 04101 México visited the Laboratory and studied the morphological and molecular characterization of several nematodes of quarantine importance with Drs. Zafar Handoo, Lynn Carta and Andrea Skantar.

 

Dr. Aly Khan, Director of the Crop Diseases Research Institute of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council in Karachi visited the Nematology Laboratory from May 14-22, 2007 to study the morphological and molecular characterization of some important plant-parasitic nematodes.

 

On March 27-29, 2007, Dr. Fengru Zhang of APHIS, visited the Laboratory in order to receive training from Dr. Zafar Handoo on the identification of potato cyst and other nematodes of quarantine importance.  

 

On January 23-26, 2007, visitors Dr. Craig Webb and Dr. Grace O'Keefe of APHIS received training at from Dr. Zafar Handoo on the identification of potato cyst nematodes.
