Regional Director Named to Head Dallas Federal Pension Agency

DALLAS - Roger Hilburn has been named regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) in Dallas, Texas.

As regional director, Hilburn heads a staff of 47 investigators, auditors and pension benefit advisors. He is responsible for overseeing the operations of private-sector pension, health and other benefit plans in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Hilburn is responsible for enforcing provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), overseeing civil and criminal investigations and serving as the primary liaison to other federal and state enforcement authorities involved in ERISA investigations. As part of the department's compliance assistance initiative, his office also assists workers in understanding their rights to obtain benefits under ERISA and related laws.

Hilburn started his career with the Labor Department as an auditor in 1985. He has more than 20 years of enforcement experience in the employee benefits field, previously serving as the deputy regional director of EBSA's Dallas regional office. He also worked as a revenue agent with the Internal Revenue Service in Dallas. In that capacity, he prepared examinations and conducted audits of retirement plans.

A native of West Monroe, La., Hilburn is married and has two children. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, La.
