    Notes:
    1. OSHA does not have a PEL for 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP).
    2. EPA’s oral reference dose (daily oral exposure likely to be without an appreciable risk of deleterious effects during a lifetime) for 2,4-DCP is 0.003 mg/kg/day.
    3. Skin contact with liquid 2,4-DCP should be treated as a life-threatening medical emergency, as several deaths from accidental splashing or spraying at work have been reported, and there is no known antidote.
    4. The NOAEL for 2,4-DCP in rats that received it orally in their food for 10 weeks was reported to be 33-49 mg/kg/day.
    5. The measurement of urinary 2,4-DCP is not specific for one parent compound, as it can be a metabolite of the organophosphate pesticides, dichlofention and prothiofos, as well as of the organochlorine pesticides, 1,3-dichlorobenzene, bifenox, diclofop, 2,4-dichlorophenoxybutyric acid, dichloroprop, and nitrofen.
