ACCORD

The United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the United States Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Office of Council Member Gordon Quan, and community organizations such as the Organization of Chinese Americans ("the Parties") have agreed to enact and adhere to the following accord, entitled "The Information Group for Asian American Rights" (TIGAAR).

On this date, in the City of Houston Texas, the parties agree to:
  1. Launch "The Information Group for Asian American Rights" (TIGAAR) campaign, an educational program aimed at making the Asian community in Houston, Texas aware of its rights in the workplace.
     
  2. Monitor the campaign and review, evaluate, and modify the program as needed through the year to ensure that the public is well aware of its workplace rights and responsibilities.
     
  3. Distribute and circulate educational program materials, including The Information Group for Asian American Rights (TIGAAR) document produced by the Parties.
     
  4. Conduct a minimum of four informational Forums during the first year of the campaign. Notice of upcoming forums, including location and participants, will be provided 30 days in advance. At least one representative of each Party will be present at each of said Forums.
     
  5. Publicize the campaign and all relevant information regarding the Program through local and international media.
     
  6. Designate a contact person responsible for the Program within each institution.
     
  7. Conduct meetings as necessary to evaluate the campaign and to make changes to improve its effectiveness.
     
  8. Respect the rules and regulations of its fellow institutions.
     
  9. Give 30 days notice of an intent to withdraw from the Information Group for Asian American Rights (TIGAAR) campaign.
