Special Press Briefing and Release: Country Reports on Terrorism 2006

The Department of State will brief the press on the annual Congressionally mandated Country Reports on Terrorism 2006 today, Monday, April 30, 2007 at 4:15 p.m. Acting Coordinator for the Office of Counterterrorism Frank C. Urbancic will provide opening remarks in the State Department's press briefing room (Room 2209) and then will respond to questions from reporters.

This briefing is open for press coverage, on camera and on the record.

Advance Copies of the Embargoed Report: Embargoed copies of the publication will be available on Monday, April 30, at 2:15 p.m. in the State Department's Press Office (Room 2109). The entire report is EMBARGOED until press briefing ends, at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Electronic Access to the Report via Internet: The full text of the report will be available for downloading from the State Department web site at: http://www.state.gov/s/ct  as soon as possible after the briefing on Monday, April 30.

Press who attend this briefing must present either (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).

Attendees who do not have a State Department building pass should arrive before 3:55 p.m. at the 23rd Street entrance of the Department of State. They also must be escorted by Press Office personnel from the briefing room to the C Street exit following the press briefing. Attendees without a State Department building pass who arrive after the 4:00 p.m. closing of the 23rd Street Lobby must register in the C Street lobby for escort to the briefing room:

Final Press Pick-Up From Inside C Street Lobby: 4:05 p.m.

Attendees who have a State Department press building pass may use the 23rd Street entrance of the Department of State if they arrive before 3:55 p.m., or the C Street entrance (2201 C Street, NW) if they arrive after 4:00 p.m.
