Notice to the Press (Revised) Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC April 20, 2007 Secretary Rice to Address Special Naturalization Ceremony; Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs Dina Habib Powell to Receive American by Choice AwardSecretary of State Condoleezza Rice will address a special naturalization ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23 in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the Department of State. Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Emilio Gonzalez will swear-in 50 new Americans. Director Gonzales will also present four American by Choice awards, recognizing outstanding achievements of naturalized U.S. citizens. Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs Dina Habib Powell will receive one of the American by Choice Awards as well as M.J. Kahan, Houston City Council Member; Farroqu Kathwari, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ethan Allen Interiors, Inc. and Indra Nooyi, Chief Executive Officer, PepsiCo. The 50 new Americans being sworn in are from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Canada, China, Colombia, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Somalia, Sweden, Thailand, Taiwan, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
