July 18, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration, announced that Mahmoud Krecht, 34, of Boynton Beach, FL, owner of Wellington Discount Pharmacy in Wellington, Palm Beach County, FL, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp to 210 months in federal prison for his role in the distribution of over 400,000 oxycodone pills outside the course of professional practice as a pharmacist. Krecht also agreed to forfeit $1,000,000.00 (one million dollars) in U.S. currency, representing the profits from the sale of the pharmaceutical drugs. Co-defendants who distributed the oxycodone in Palm Beach County, FL, New Jersey, and elsewhere were also sentenced today. Vincent Anthony Montesano, 30, of Ft. Pierce, FL, was sentenced to 101 months in prison, and Michael Joseph Marchese, 42, of Ft. Pierce, FL, was sentenced to 72 months in prison. Both forfeited the proceeds they obtained from the sale of oxycodone.

The evidence recovered in this investigation has resulted in a new indictment filed on June 12, 2008, in West Palm Beach, FL, naming additional co-conspirators in the distribution of oxycodone pills. They are Joseph Lamberti, 22, of Long Port, NJ, Theresa Marchese, 22, of Long Port, NJ, Russell Waddell, 21, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Stanhope Gosman, 36, of West Palm Beach, Florida. The investigation is continuing.
