ALIEN INDICTED BY FEDERAL GRAND JURY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FLORENTINO ELGUERA-ROSENDO, age 48, a resident of Mexico, was charged in a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, on or about May 14, 2008, FLORENTINO ELGUERA-ROSENDO, was found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without having obtained consent from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the United States, after previously being removed and deported from the United States. The indictment also alleges that on February 4, 2002, in Brezoria County,
Texas, the defendant was convicted of robbery, an aggravated felony.

If convicted, FLORENTINO ELGUERA-ROSENDO faces a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a fine of $250,000 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
