INSURANCE COMPANY EXECUTIVES CONVICTED BY FEDERAL JURY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BARRY S. SCHEUR, age 51, a resident of Massachusetts, and ROBERT MCMILLAN, age 59, a resident of Texas, were convicted today in U. S. District Court of conspiracy, wire fraud and mail fraud charges relating to their operation of the now defunct HMO The Oath for Louisiana, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. A third defendant, Danette Bruno, was acquitted of all charges.

BARRY S. SCHEUR, the owner, president and Chief Executive Officer of The Oath for Louisiana, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, three (3) counts of mail fraud and four (4) counts of wire fraud. ROBERT MCMILLAN, the Chief Financial Officer of the Oath for Louisiana, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, one count of mail fraud, and one count of wire fraud.

The defendants face five (5) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and three (3) years supervised release as to each charge. Sentencing has been scheduled for August 13, 2008.

The case was investigated by the U. S. Postal Inspection Service and the U. S. Department of Labor. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Dall Kammer and Department of Justice Trial Attorney Joseph Capone.
