FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PERRY L. TAYLOR, a/k/a James J. Holland, age 55, a resident of New Orleans, LA, was charged in a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the indictment, on August 10, 2007, while on patrol, New Orleans Police Officers placed TAYLOR under arrest and discovered that he had in his possession a .357 revolver. Further investigation revealed that on April 6, 1994, TAYLOR was convicted of armed robbery in Orleans Parish.

If convicted, TAYLOR faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

U. S. Attorney Jim Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation was conducted gated by the New Orleans Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian J. Capitelli.
