EAST HAVEN WOMAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROLE IN CRACK COCAINE CONSPIRACY

Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JENNIFER VALLOMBROSO, 32, of East Haven, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release.  Judge Arterton also ordered VALLOMBROSO to pay a fine in the amount of $500.  On February 27, 2008, a federal jury in New Haven found VALLOMBROSO  guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).

According to the evidence presented during the trial, on several occasions in April and May 2007, VALLOMBROSO conspired with her husband, John Vailette, to sell crack cocaine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.

On March 20, 2008, Vailette pleaded guilty to one count possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, five grams or more of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).  On August 14, 2008, Judge Arterton sentenced Vailette to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by eight years of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Branford Police Department, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward Chang.
