WATERBURY MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR DEALING HEROIN Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that ORLANDO PACHECO, also known as “Fernando Santiago,” 32, of Waterbury, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release. On October 3, 2007, PACHECO pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, heroin. According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on two occasions in June and July 2006, PACHECO sold a total of approximately 20 grams of heroin to an individual cooperating with federal law enforcement. PACHECO has prior convictions related to the sale of narcotics that date back to 1997, and today he was sentenced as a career offender. This investigation was funded in significant part through the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) and gang initiatives. The investigation was a collaborative effort of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Waterbury Police Department’s Gang Task Force and the Connecticut Department of Corrections. This matter is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys S. Dave Vatti and Robert M. Spector. | |
