CITIZEN OF JAMAICA CONVICTED OF PASSPORT FRAUD IS SENTENCED

Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that KERRINE ANIKA PHILIBERT, also known as Regina Renee Davis and Kerrine Evans, 30, a citizen and native of Jamaica last residing in Mount Vernon, New York, was sentenced today by Senior United States District Judge Ellen Bree Burns in New Haven to six months and 15 days in prison, time already served, for willfully and knowingly making a false statement in an application for a United States passport.  PHILIBERT pleaded guilty to the offense on March 28, 2008.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on December 28, 2005, PHILIBERT entered the United States Post Office in Norwalk, Connecticut, and submitted an application for a United States Passport using the name and social security number of another individual.

In October 2003, PHILIBERT, then known as Kerrine Evans, was convicted of passport fraud in the Southern District of New York after she attempted to obtain a passport in the name of Sashanna Yates.

PHILIBERT has been detained since her arrest on November 6, 2007.

This case was investigated by the United States Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Krishna R. Patel.
