WINDSOR MAN WHO MADE FALSE STATEMENT IS SENTENCED Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that CLIFTON HENRY, 40, of Windsor, Connecticut and Chandler, Arizona, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to two years of probation for making a false statement to a federal law enforcement officer. HENRY pleaded guilty to the offense on October 1, 2007. According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, HENRY knowingly and willfully made a false statement and representation when he told the Internal Revenue Service that approximately $240,000 in cash, both genuine and counterfeit, which was seized from him by the Connecticut State Police at the Foxwoods Casino on June 25, 2007, was the proceeds of the sale of his business assets, as well as gambling proceeds and money loaned to him for the purpose of gambling. In truth, the vast majority of this money did not come from any of these sources. HENRY has agreed to forfeit to the Government $228,027 in U.S. currency that was seized from him by the Connecticut State Police. This matter was investigated by the United States Secret Service, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation Division and the Connecticut State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David A. Ring. | |
