FORMER UNION PRESIDENT WHO FILED FALSE REPORTS IS SENTENCED

Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that TIMOTHY FERRUCCI, 55, of West Haven, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Janet C. Hall in Bridgeport to one year of probation, the first six months of which FERRUCCI must spend confined to his home.  Judge Hall also ordered FERRUCCI to pay a fine in the amount of $2000.  On November 2, 2007, FERRUCCI pleaded guilty to four counts of filing false union reports.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, FERRUCCI was the President of the Northeast Emergency Services Union, an independent local union representing approximately 400 employees of American Medical Response of New Haven and Greater New Haven Transit Company.  In pleading guilty, FERRUCCI admitted that, as president of the union, he submitted annual reports for 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004, which under-reported the amount of money that had been paid to him in the form of payments by the Union to FERRUCCI, and to third parties on FERRUCCI’s behalf.

FERRUCCI has been ordered to make restitution in the amount of $27,347.67 to the Union.

Andrew Konspore, FERRUCCI’s son-in-law, embezzled $91,605.37 while serving as the treasurer of the Union.  KONSPORE pleaded guilty to the offense and, on April 2, 2007, Judge Hall sentenced him to five months of imprisonment and five months of home confinement.

This matter was investigated by the Office of Labor Management Standards.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony E. Kaplan.
