CRACK COCAINE DEALS NEAR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SEND LAWRENCE MAN TO PRISON FOR 19+ YEARS

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Aharlock W. Fixico, 29, Lawrence, Kan., has been sentenced to 235 months in federal prison for drug trafficking, U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren announced Wednesday.

In July 2007, Fixico pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to operate a crack house within 1,000 feet of an elementary school and four counts of distributing crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of an elementary school.

“He admitted peddling crack cocaine from an apartment in the 1400 block of East 21st Terrace in Lawrence, which is within 1,000 feet of Kennedy Elementary School,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren.

In his plea, Fixico admitted he:
– Possessed crack cocaine when he was stopped May 27, 1999, for a traffic violation.
– Possessed crack cocaine May 23, 2000, when Lawrence police officers encountered him while responding to a report of males throwing bottles at cars driving past a residence.
– Possessed crack cocaine June 12, 2000, when he was arrested after being stopped for traffic violations.
– Sold crack cocaine twice on March 15, 2004, to undercover buyers during meetings in a parking lot in the 1400 block of East 21st Terrace.
– Sold crack cocaine March 21, 2004, to undercover buyers during a meeting at the apartment on Terrace.
– Sold crack cocaine to an undercover buyer Aug. 11, 2004, during a meeting at a convenience store in Eudora, Kan., which was within 1,000 feet of Nottingham Elementary School.

“Investigators developed evidence that he manufactured crack cocaine, transported kilogram quantities of cocaine from Texas to Lawrence on at least four occasions and pooled his money with other conspirators to obtain ounces of cocaine from a common supplier in Kansas City,” Melgren said.

Co-defendants charged in the case include:
Don Marcus Gibler, who was sentenced to 324 months.
Branden Scott Walker, who was sentenced to 121 months.
Carl Ray Roubison, who was sentenced to 41 months.
Ryan Ezell Fowler, who was sentenced to 120 months
Lonnnie Ray Teichman, who is set for sentencing Sept. 29, 2008.
John Burke Holt, who was sentenced to 87 months.
Ryan Lavell Green, who was sentenced to 130 months.
Katheryn Alexander, who is set for sentencing Dec. 1, 2008.

Melgren commended the city-county Drug Enforcement Unit, comprising officers from the Lawrence Police Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Rask, who is prosecuting
