SALINA MAN SENTENCED IN THEFT OF FIREARMS

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Jamie Neil Durham, 19, Salina, was sentenced Monday to 30 months in federal prison for the theft of 33 rifles and handguns from a licensed firearms dealer’s shop.

Durham pleaded guilty in August to the May 31, 2007, burglary at Cleve’s Marine and Sporting Goods, 136 S. Broadway, Salina, Kan. In his plea, he admitted that he participated in the burglary with Charles Richard Ferris, Jr., and Brenton Robert Born. After the burglary they went to the home of co-defendant Charles Richard Ferris, Sr., who agreed to hide some of the stolen firearms in his house.

The three co-defendants are scheduled for a jury trial March 4, 2008.

U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough for their work on the case.
