WICHITA TREATMENT CENTER TO PAY $10,000 TO SETTLE ALLEGATION OF BAD RECORD KEEPING

WICHITA, KAN. – United States Attorney Eric Melgren announced today that Wichita Treatment Center, Inc., a registered narcotic treatment program in Wichita, will pay the United States $10,000 under a civil settlement agreement to resolve allegations of inaccurate record keeping in violation of the Controlled Substances Act.

Wichita Treatment Center denies the allegations. The settlement follows a regulatory inspection by the Drug Enforcement Administration, citing the methadone clinic with failure to keep accurate records of the methadone dispensed by the clinic. Under the agreement, the clinic will be subject to a mandatory follow-up inspection by the DEA to insure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations governing such clinics.

Melgren commended the DEA and Assistant U.S. Attorney Laurie Kahrs for their work on the case.
