WHO WE ARE

Mission

The mission of the INTERPOL-United States Central Bureau (USNCB) is to provide U.S. law enforcement authorities at the local, state, and federal levels with a central point of communication to the international law enforcement community, and to serve as the official representative of the United States to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).

The major mission goals for the USNCB are:

  • Transmit information of a criminal justice, humanitarian or other law enforcement related nature between National Central Bureaus of INTERPOL member countries and law enforcement agencies of the United States.
  • Respond to requests by law enforcement agencies and legitimate organizations, and institutions when in agreement with the INTERPOL constitution.
  • Coordinate and integrate information for investigations of an international nature and identify those involving patterns and trends of criminal activities.

The USNCB is authorized by statute (22 U.S. Code ยง 263(a)) and operates within the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Justice. The USNCB is co-managed by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security pursuant to a memorandum of understanding between the Departments.
