Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration is an independent federal agency in the executive branch created in 1953. It makes loans to small businesses, state and local developers and victims of floods and other disasters.

The Small Business Law Library page includes Selected Small Business Statutes, Executive Orders, and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).

Other features:

  • Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) - The RFA requires federal agencies to review regulations for their impact on small businesses and consider less burdensome alternatives.
  • Court Cases Citing (Shepardizing) the RFA – PDF document that lists and shepardizes RFA cases, current to the year 2000.
  • Online Subscription Services provides a list of more than 50 free SBA online newsletters and instructions for subscribing. Examples of a few titles include:
    • Advocacy Regulatory News: Provides notification about regulatory issues concerning small business.
    • Press Office: SBA News Releases keeps you abreast of key small business initiatives and new SBA programs and services as they are made available.

  • PL 106-50 Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999 48 CFR Parts 2, 4, 5, 7, 19, 52, and 53.
