Linbeck in Houston, Recognized for Exemplary
Safety and Health Program

DALLAS -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, in partnership with the Associated General Contractors (AGC), has welcomed Linbeck Construction Corp., of Houston, Texas, into an ongoing partnership designed to reduce injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

Linbeck Construction, a member contractor that employs more than 250 workers, has an exceptional safety and health program, which covers not only its own employees but also subcontractor employees at construction project sites. The company has offices in Houston and Fort Worth, as well as Lexington, Mass., and Menlo Park, Calif.

"The Labor Department will continue to stress the importance of job safety to reduce injuries, illness and fatalities through effective safety and health programs," said OSHA Regional Administrator John Miles. "It is important to assure a safe and healthful workplace for all employees."

To participate in the OSHA/AGC program, contractors must meet stringent safety guidelines including an occupational injury and illness rate 15 percent below the most current Bureau of Labor Statistics rates for the industry. They also must maintain a site-specific, written safety and health program based on OSHA guidelines and must train employees on hazards specific to their jobs.

Employers and employees with questions about this or other OSHA partnerships can call the Houston North area office at (281) 591-2438, or the Houston South area office at (281) 286-0583.
