OSHA Recognizes York, Pa. Company For Safety And Health Success By Giving Highest Honor

YORK, Pa. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will officially induct Montenay York Resource Energy Systems, LLC, York, Pa. into its Voluntary Protection Program as a STAR site at a special flag ceremony on Fri., April 12, at 6:30 p.m.

The ceremony will take place at the Springwood Golf Club, 601 Chestnut Hill Road, York, Pa. Marie Cassady, OSHA deputy regional administrator, will make the presentation.

Montenay, a waste-to-energy/mass burn facility processing municipal solid waste, burns approximately 1,340 tons of municipal solid refuse waste per day to run a 42-megawatt generator. Power is sold to local utility companies. The company is noted for having three-year recordable injuries and lost workday incidence rates that are 27 and 75 percent below the industry average respectively.

The STAR program, designed for worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health programs, is open to any industry, and to companies with injury rates below the industry's national average.
