Mason Contractors Association of America Renew Alliance with OSHA

WASHINGTON -- An Alliance between OSHA and the Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) was renewed for an additional two years recently following its successful debut more than two years ago.

“We have already seen a large number of OSHA, state plan state, and Onsite Consultation representatives receive instruction on masonry industry safety practices -- all because of the development of a joint seminar born from this Alliance,” said OSHA Administrator Ed Foulke. “This kind of result is precisely why our Alliance Program is important and why it is imperative that we keep those relationships thriving.”

Added MCAA Executive Director Michael Adelizzi: “Our Alliance with OSHA has been instrumental in assisting our efforts toward educational outreach to our industry’s mason contractors. As our industry remains committed to ensuring the safety of our nearly 300,000 workers, we believe the Alliance’s importance to our industry will only play a more important role.”

The renewal calls for OSHA and MCAA to encourage employers, including small businesses, to increase employee access to safety and health information and training resources, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to hazards associated with masonry wall bracing, scaffolding, silica and forklift operations.
