Statement by OSHA Administrator John Henshaw on 2002 Workplace Injury and Illness Data

WASHINGTON—OSHA Administrator John Henshaw today released the following statement regarding the 2002 workplace injury and illness data released by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“We’re pleased with today’s news that the nation’s workplace injury and illness rate now stands at just 5.3 cases per 100 full-time workers. We’re proud of the progress we’re making, but we’re not complacent. Along with recent data showing that workplace fatalities have dropped to an all-time low, today's news is further indication of the progress this Administration has achieved in making workers and workplaces safer than ever before.”
