ATTORNEY GENERAL JANET RENO REAPPOINTS BARBARA G. STUART
AS UNITED STATES TRUSTEE FOR
IOWA, MINNESOTA, NORTH DAKOTA, AND SOUTH DAKOTA


      WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Barbara G. Stuart was reappointed Oct. 2 by Attorney General Janet Reno to a five-year term as United States Trustee for Region 12, comprised of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The United States Trustee Program is an arm of the Justice Department that supervises the administration of bankruptcy cases nationwide. It is divided into 21 regions, each headed by a United States Trustee.

      Stuart was first appointed United States Trustee for Region 12 on Oct. 3, 1994. Prior to that appointment, she practiced law with Moss & Barnett in Minneapolis, where she was chair of the Bankruptcy Department. Stuart has also served as a private Chapter 7 trustee in Minnesota, an adjunct professor for the University of Minnesota Law School, and a frequent lecturer for Minnesota Continuing Legal Education. Stuart received her Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in 1971 from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minn., where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her Juris Doctor in 1980 from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minn., after teaching for five years in the United States and Turkey.

      The offices for Region 12 are located in Minneapolis; Des Moines; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Sioux Falls, S.D.
