Student artists brush up their portfolios

High school art students got advice on their portfolios and information about applying to art schools at the seventh annual Art School Forum held at Walt Whitman High School. Representatives from more than 20 colleges, universities and art programs were on hand to meet with students and offer their critiques of students’ work.

100 MCPS Educators Earn National Board Certification

100 MCPS educators earn board certification

Montgomery County Public Schools continues to lead the state in the number of educators awarded certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. A total of 478 MCPS educators have achieved National Board Certification while teaching in MCPS. To earn certification, candidates undergo a rigorous assessment of their teaching portfolios, student work samples, and videotapes of classroom teaching.

Parent Academy Offers New Workshops

Parent Academy offers new workshops

Registration is open for free MCPS Parent Academy workshops taking place this winter. Workshop topics include cybersafety, helping children develop good study and organizational skills and understanding the special education process. Coordinated by the Department of Family and Community Partnerships (DFCP) in the Office of Communications and Family Outreach, the Parent Academy was created to empower all parents as advocates and partners in their children's education.
