MEPI Business Intern Meets First Lady Laura Bush

Columbus, Ohio
September 14, 2004

A meeting with First Lady Laura Bush (right), wife of the U.S. President, has been one of Ms. Faten Hajj Sleiman's unexpected rewards during her participation in the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI)-sponsored business internship at Longaberger Company. Ms. Sleiman accompanied Longaberger's CEO, Ms. Tami Longaberger, to an event attended by 200 business women from Ohio. At the event, the intern also met the First Lady of Ohio, Ms. Hope Taft, who was so impressed by her and the MEPI program that she included Ms. Sleiman in subsequent activities, including hospital visits and a baseball game.
