Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao On
March Unemployment Numbers
WASHINGTON-U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao released the
following statement on the March unemployment numbers released today:
"Today the unemployment rate dropped significantly to 5.2%. The economy
has had 22 straight months of job growth and more Americans are working than
ever before. 3.1 million jobs have been created since the uptick in job growth
began in June 2003. The President's economic policies have produced the
environment for steady, consistent economic growth."
