The goals of the Oregon Character Education Partnership Project are to:

  • increase capacity in Oregon schools to establish comprehensive character education programs that will foster high academic achievement and good character in students; and

  • improve student achievement, attitudes and behaviors, staff morale, and community support for schools by developing and implementing comprehensive models of character education.

The project is aligned with other initiatives that support school improvement in Oregon. These include:

  • integrating character education into Oregon's broader school reform initiative through the use of the continuous improvement model;

  • establishing 12 effective comprehensive models for other schools to emulate; and

  • documenting, analyzing, and disseminating the project's products and processes through an online clearinghouse.
