Targeted International Groups Operating in Florida
FEB
20DEA agents and Florida police raided several locations
in Jacksonville, Orlando and Crescent City to put a stop to groups
that distributed cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana throughout
Central and North Florida. At 4 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, about
300 law enforcement officers arrested more than 44 suspected drug
traffickers they were investigating in Operation El Barrio and Operation
Crescent Moon. DEA and state law enforcement agencies have been working
together to investigate the two international drug trafficking organizations
for about a year. The multi-million dollar drug organizations were
bringing thousands of pounds of drugs to Florida from South Texas.
Putnam
County Sheriff Taylor Douglas said of the case, “A major
drug network has been dismantled and disassembled as a result of
this, and our streets in Putnam County will be safer.”
