Celebrating the Opening of an English Language and Information Resource Center in Turkmenistan

Gorogly, Dashoguz Welayat, Turkmenistan
October 5, 2003

Ambassador Jacobson and her husband, along with officers from the Embassy's Public Affairs Section, gather with local civil society leaders and teachers to celebrate the opening of an English Language and Information Resource Center in the community of Gorogly, in Turkmenistan’s northernmost region, Dashoguz Welayat. The center was opened through a joint project between Peace Corps volunteers and local English teachers, including Teaching Excellence Award (TEA) exchange program alumni. The U.S. Embassy and the Embassy of Great Britain and Northern Ireland contributed financial support for the center’s opening.
