Working Partners serves as DOL’s representative to the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). ONDCP is the
government entity that coordinates policies, priorities and objectives for the nation’s drug control program, which
strives to reduce illicit drug use, manufacturing and trafficking; drug-related crime and violence; and drug-related health
consequences. Examples of ONDCP activities Working Partners contributes to include the following:
National Drug Control Strategy
An annual National Drug Control Strategy published by ONDCP outlines the recent progress of, future goals for and
activities conducted under the nation’s drug control program. As appropriate, Working Partners provides
workplace-related input into this document. For example, for the 2006 National Drug Control Strategy, Working Partners
helped develop a special
section highlighting the role drug-free workplace programs play in preventing drug use and
intervening early with those who have already begun to use (on page 9 of Chapter 1).
Parents@Work
Working Partners is a partner in the Parents@Work;
program, a component of the ONDCP-led National Youth
Anti-Drug Media Campaign. This program provides employers with free resources designed for use in the workplace to help
educate working parents about strategies for preventing youth from using drugs. As part of this partnership, Working Partners
developed a special Parents in the Workplace page on its
Web site and added the topic and several resources to the
Substance Abuse Information Database (SAID).
