 Frequently Asked Questions

OVERVIEW

Equal opportunity laws enforced by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) prohibit discrimination against job applicants and employees of federal contractors and subcontractors, program participants and employees of recipients of financial assistance from DOL, and against DOL employees. DOL's Employment Standards Administration's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) enforces equal employment opportunity laws that apply to federal contractors and subcontractors. DOL's Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management's Civil Rights Center (CRC) oversees equal opportunity in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance from DOL and assures equal employment opportunity for all applicants to, and employees of, DOL.

The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), which is administered by DOL's Veterans' Employment and Training Service, also prohibits employers from discriminating against past and present members of the uniformed services and applicants to the uniformed services.
