Zimbabwe: Notifying Individuals Subject to the Presidential Proclamation on Visas

Question:  Is the State Department sending letters to Zimbabwean officials potentially covered by the 212(f) visa proclamation notifying them that they may be are ineligible for visas?

Answer:  the State Department has begun notifying individuals who may be subject to visa restrictions under the proclamation by President Bush signed February 22, 2002.  We are in the preliminary stages of that ongoing process.

-- We are not in a position to release the number or names of those receiving notifications.

-- If individuals believe they may be subject to visa restrictions they should contact a U.S. Embassy before planning or attempting travel to the United States.
