On Nov. 7, 2002, President Bush signed public law 107-288 to amend title 38 United States Code, Jobs for Veterans Act, with the directive to revise and improve employment, training and placement services furnished to veterans. The act authorized the Secretary of Labor to establish the President’s National Hire Veterans Committee. Its objective is to raise employer awareness of the training and skills that veterans possess at all ranks and occupational specialties and of the ways to hire them.

The Veterans’ Employment and Training Service provides veterans with the resources and services to succeed in the 21st century workforce.
