Lenovo responds to Hurricane Katrina tragedy

The employees of Lenovo are deeply saddened by the destruction and loss caused by Hurricane Katrina, and, together as a company, we are helping victims of this tragedy.

Lenovo is donating 1,000 ThinkPad notebooks and 500 ThinkCentre desktops and monitors to assist in the relief efforts of emergency organizations and to help displaced families connect with their loved ones. In all, we will provide nearly $2 million in systems and technical support.

We'll deliver the first shipments today, sending 100 ThinkPads to the American Red Cross to aid in relief efforts. Also, we will provide Houston's Astrodome and San Antonio's Alamodome with dozens of ThinkPad notebooks equipped with wireless wide area network service from SBC Communications, so that residents can notify friends and family of their safety.

The remaining systems will be distributed quickly in order to help volunteers and victims alike rebuild their homes and lives.

Throughout the world, the employees of Lenovo send their thoughts and sympathy to everyone affected by this tragedy.
