Route 209 from Milford to Bushkill PA
ia a straight and level ride past farm fields on the east side and the Pocono Plateau on the west. Several side roads turn west to go to the sites of waterfalls.There are glimpses of the river near Bushkill.
Along PA Route 611, south of Interstate 80, three scenic overlooks provide the best places to view the Delaware River as it passes through the Water Gap, a view enjoyed by the 19th century vacationers as well.
New Jersey's Old Mine Road is a ride through hills and past villages. Several historic structures are open for visits in summer. There are glimpses of the river at the south end near Worthington State Forest.
A section of this centuries-old roadway is still dirt, but a paved alternative is available: from Flatbroookville north to Peters Valley, follow route NPS 615.
